Dr. Charles F. Goldfarb, Project Editor
Last revised March 4, 1999
Welcome to the ISO 8879 Review current information set. This archive contains the latest revisions of the key documents that I consider to govern the Project Editor's review of ISO 8879.
ISO 8879, the SGML International Standard, is developed and maintained by ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34/WG1; that is, Working Group 1 of Subcomittee 34 of Joint Technical Committee 1 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission. A more complete selection of SC34 documents can be found at the SC34 Web Service.
The current information set is divided into three categories: completed work, work in process, and procedural documents.
The Third Interim Report was produced at the Munich meeting of WG8 in May, 1996, which some 20+ members attended. It is a consolidated report that incorporates all earlier reports (except N1035, because of its size) and policy documents, as well as reporting on recent work.
The Fourth Interim Report from the Boston meeting of WG8 in November, 1996, and the Barcelona meeting report of May 9, 1997, do not consolidate earlier reports.
Many of the recommendations from the interim reports were incorporated in the Web SGML Adaptations, which were adopted in final form for publication by ISO/IEC at the Chicago meeting in December, 1998. The Web SGML Adaptations may now be implemented by conforming SGML systems.
