Information Management Consulting is the consulting practice of Dr. Charles F. Goldfarb, the inventor of SGML and HyTime, and technical leader of the teams that developed them into their present form as International Standards. His ideas have been put into practice by thousands of the world's leading information developers -- including the U.S. Government, the IBM Corporation, and the European Community.
The World Wide Web is a major beneficiary of Dr. Goldfarb's work, as HTML is an application of SGML, and XML is a subset of SGML.
We have two service offerings, consulting and seminars, which are offered throughout the world. We use the term "consulting" in the traditional sense of giving professional advice, not as a synonym for "contracting".
These services are offered only to implementors of innovative large-scale SGML/XML applications, and to developers of leading-edge products that implement the SGML/XML family of standards. We provide a high-level perspective on design and strategy, and normally work with other consultants and in-house staff who are involved with detailed implementation.
We offer executive seminars and briefings on information asset management and the role of SGML/XML and related standards.
Dr. Goldfarb wrote the standard reference on SGML, The SGML Handbook, and co-authored The XML Handbook, the only XML book on Amazon.com's Top Ten List of Internet titles for 1998. He is Series Editor of Prentice-Hall's Charles F. Goldfarb Series on Open Information Management and The Definitive XML Series from Charles F. Goldfarb.
